ABOUT THE FACULTY

Faculty of Halal Industry

The halal industry is becoming a new economic growth engine. No less than USD 2.02 trillion is spent by Muslims worldwide on food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and other sharia sectors (data from The State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2020/21). This trend is predicted to continue to increase with the increasing Muslim population in the world, which in 2020 reached 1.9 billion people. This figure is expected to continue to grow until it reaches 2.2 billion people or 26.5% of the total world population in 2030 (data from Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion and Public Life).

UNU Yogyakarta plays an active role in continuing to support the development of the halal industry in Indonesia by preparing qualified resources and sustainable research.
