UNU Jogja Attends LP3H National Coordination Meeting, Supports Acceleration of Halal Certification for Micro and Small Enterprises

Jakarta, Indonesia – Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja) participated in the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of the Halal Product Assurance Assistance Institute (Lembaga Pendamping Proses Produk Halal – LP3H), organized by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal – BPJPH) of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta, Monday–Wednesday, February 2–4, 2026.

The event served as both a guidance program and a national coordination forum for LP3H to accelerate halal certification for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) through the self-declare scheme, as well as to optimize LP3H’s performance in 2026.

According to the State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) Report 2024/2025, Indonesia ranks third in the global Islamic economy ecosystem, with strengths in the modest fashion and halal food sectors. By the end of this year, BPJPH aims for Indonesia to secure the top position by ensuring the halal status of products from 30 million industries and MSMEs.

Chair of LP3H UNU Jogja, Ahmad Hujjaj Nurohim, who attended the meeting, expressed his optimism about supporting this target through enhanced empowerment of MSMEs in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).

He explained that participation in the Rakornas aligns with ongoing programs run by LP3H UNU Jogja to assist halal certification processes for MSME partners in DIY. The meeting was seen as a significant momentum to extend societal benefits.

“Alhamdulillah, LP3H UNU Jogja has also begun actively facilitating certification for our MSME partners. Our future target is to advance into industrial-scale auditors so that our role can be more widely felt by the community. In addition, the Halal Center at UNU Jogja is currently initiating a Halal Training Center, and we pray for its smooth development,” he said.

Ahmad Hujjaj Nurohim added that this year BPJPH RI is also promoting the Mandatory Halal October (WHO) program. Through the strengthened role of LP3H in various regions, the program is expected to be implemented optimally.

He also expressed his hope that LP3H UNU Jogja can actively contribute to the success of this national program while broadening its assistance in halal certification for MSE actors. [Latifah]
