UNU Jogja Library Equips New Students with Scientific and Digital Literacy through Reference Manager Public Lecture

Yogyakarta, Indonesia — The UNU Jogja Library organized a Public Lecture on Scientific and Digital Literacy themed “Reference Manager” at the Main Hall, 5th Floor of the UNU Yogyakarta Campus, on Thursday, December 11. The event was attended by all new students of the 2025 cohort.

The public lecture was part of the university’s efforts to strengthen students’ academic literacy competencies from the early stages of their studies, particularly in the systematic and ethical management of academic references.

In his opening remarks, Head of the UNU Jogja Library, Abdulloh Badruzzaman, S.T., M.T., emphasized the importance of reference management skills in academic writing to prevent plagiarism and improve the overall quality of students’ scholarly work.

He also highlighted that scientific and digital literacy are essential skills that students must possess in the information age, especially in facing increasingly complex and technology-based academic challenges.

During the material and discussion sessions, students received technical explanations and hands-on guidance in using the Mendeley reference manager application, led by UNU Jogja librarians Nur Istiana, Silvia Dwi Riyanti, and Tia Dyan Wilujeng. Students were guided through the installation process, reference organization, and the automatic generation of bibliographies.
