Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja) has partnered with the Sleman Regency Office for Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning (P3AP2KB) to strengthen efforts in preventing and addressing violence in higher education institutions, Monday (March 16).
The agreement, signed at the P3AP2KB Office in Sleman, was formalized by the Head of the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (PPKTP) at UNU Jogja, Suharti, M.A., and the Head of P3AP2KB Sleman, dr. Novita Krisnaeni, M.P.H.
Suharti emphasized that the agreement reflects UNU Jogja’s strong commitment to creating a safe academic environment.
“UNU Jogja has been progressive in addressing this issue. We have established clear programs and regulations as part of a comprehensive prevention and response system,” she stated.
She added that the university’s commitment has long been demonstrated through victim-centered policies and collaboration with victim assistance organizations as well as women and child advocacy groups.
“We ensure that our efforts go beyond regulations. Every report is handled promptly, safely, and with a victim-centered approach,” she affirmed.
Meanwhile, dr. Novita Krisnaeni expressed her appreciation for UNU Jogja’s active participation in the initiative. She highlighted that the involvement of higher education institutions plays a strategic role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and violence-free campus environment.
Furthermore, she opened opportunities for broader collaboration between P3AP2KB and universities, including in research and student internship programs.
“This collaboration is expected to strengthen the synergy between government institutions and academia in addressing issues related to women’s empowerment, child protection, and population control in Sleman Regency,” she said.
Both parties expressed hope that this agreement will serve as a starting point for building a more responsive, inclusive, and safe campus ecosystem for all members of the academic community. [Latifah]
