Yogyakarta, Indonesia - UNU Jogja recently hosted an event titled "Pathway to Global Scholarship: Inspiring Sharing Session: GEM-LPDP-CSU for Future Masters” on Monday, June 23, at The Forum, UNU Jogja. The event began at 9:00 a.m. and was attended by students, alumni, and participants from various backgrounds.
The event featured two inspiring speakers: Tegar Mukti Aji and Rizky Wanaldy. Both are recipients of the LPDP-CSU Batch 1 scholarship and are currently pursuing doctoral studies at Central South University (CSU) in China. CSU is known as one of the leading universities in Metallurgical Engineering. The scholarship program is a collaboration between the LPDP, GEM, and CSU, and it is now in its fifth batch.

Nurhadi Irbath, the Director of Employability at UNU Jogja, opened the event with an inspiring speech. He emphasized that pursuing overseas studies is not merely a means to obtain a degree, but also part of the mission to spread Islam to all corners of the world. Citing the story of Roger Bannister, the first runner to break the four-minute mile barrier, Nurhadi illustrated the importance of breaking free from mental limitations.
"We must realize that what is often considered impossible is merely a limitation in our minds and can be overcome with strong determination and enthusiasm," said Nurhadi.
Muhammad Zahran Hibatullah was also present. He is a recipient of the LPDP scholarship and will continue his studies at Les Roches in Switzerland, the second-best hotel management school in the world. Zahran, who is also a creative specialist at UNU Jogja, shared his experience preparing for the scholarship selection process. He emphasized the importance of mastering foreign languages and strengthening one's academic knowledge from an early age.

"Investing time and effort in mastering languages and academic content is key to obtaining international scholarships," he said.
During the presentation, Rizky and Tegar explained the advantages of the scholarship program, including relatively easy requirements, a three-year curriculum with internships and a thesis, and promising career prospects in the industrial sector. They also emphasized that students from various disciplines have opportunities as long as they are interested in and prepared to learn across fields.
Through this session, UNU Jogja hopes to broaden students' horizons when it comes to exploring opportunities for further study abroad while strengthening its role in the global education arena. [Contributor: Azzuhaida]
