UNU Jogja Informatics Student Develops Digital One-Stop Service for Religious Court in Probolinggo

Probolinggo, Indonesia – An internship is not only an opportunity for students to gain exposure to the professional world but also a chance to apply their skills to address real-world needs. This was demonstrated by Ahmad Noor Hidayah, a 2023 student of the Informatics Study Program at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja), who developed a Digital One-Stop Service (PTSP) system during his internship at the Kraksaan Religious Court in Probolinggo Regency, East Java.

The system was developed to support information technology-based public services at the Kraksaan Religious Court. Through the Digital PTSP, the public can obtain information, consultations, and access administrative services online without always having to visit the court in person.

The system was developed in response to the need for easier access to public services. It can be accessed through various devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers, using a compatible browser and internet connection.

One of the available services is a service information feature containing requirements, procedures, required documents, and additional information. The system also provides a hearing schedule feature that allows users to search for case information by case number, including the hearing date, courtroom, agenda, and hearing status.

To help the public obtain information more quickly, Ahmad also developed a chatbot feature. The feature functions as an automated assistant that can display service information, provide frequently asked questions (FAQ), direct users to specific pages, and connect them with WhatsApp.

Accessibility was also a key consideration in developing the Digital PTSP. The public can access the service through the Kraksaan Religious Court website, WhatsApp, or a QR Code that automatically directs users to the relevant service page.

The system is designed to support public services that are fast, accurate, friendly, transparent, and professional. Information services are provided free of charge, while requests submitted outside service hours will be processed on the next working day.

Head of the Informatics Study Program at UNU Jogja, Yana Hendriana, said the development of the Digital PTSP demonstrates how students can apply their competencies to address real-world challenges in professional settings. According to her, Informatics education is not limited to mastering technology but also involves understanding user needs and developing applicable solutions.

“We see Ahmad’s experience as an example of how the competencies gained during his studies can be applied to address real needs in the field. Students are not only learning how to develop systems but also how to understand user needs, service processes, and how technology can benefit the community,” Yana said.

Yana added that such experiences play an important role in preparing students for the professional world. Students are encouraged to continue developing technological solutions that are relevant to the needs of institutions and communities.

“We hope experiences like this will encourage Informatics students to continue developing innovations that provide real benefits. The system development process also gives students an opportunity to learn how to evaluate and improve their work based on user needs,” she said.

For Ahmad, implementing the Digital PTSP during his internship gave him direct experience of how a system is used in a professional environment. The knowledge he gained during his Informatics studies could be applied and evaluated based on actual conditions and needs in the field.

The experience also encouraged Ahmad to take the system to its next stage of development. After observing the use of the initial version of the Digital PTSP, he identified several areas that could be further improved, both in terms of features and system capabilities.

Ahmad Noor Hidayah said he is currently developing the next version of the system.

“I am currently developing the next version. The version I am working on is better than the previous system, both in terms of features and its ability to support service needs,” Ahmad said.

According to Ahmad, the further development is based on his internship experience and direct observations of service needs. The process helped him understand that system development is not only about technical capabilities but must also take into account user needs and conditions in the field.

He hopes the latest version will provide a better user experience while further supporting service delivery at the Kraksaan Religious Court.

In addition to providing access to information, the Digital PTSP is also equipped with channels for complaints and suggestions. The public can report service-related issues through PTSP Online, the complaint desk at the Kraksaan Religious Court, or the court’s official social media channels.

The development of the Digital PTSP has become part of Ahmad’s learning process in connecting knowledge gained at university with real needs in the workplace. The experience has also helped him understand that technological solutions need to be designed by considering users, workflows, and implementation conditions.

Through the system, Ahmad has contributed to the digitalization of public services at the Kraksaan Religious Court.
