Yogyakarta, Indonesia — Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta (UNU Jogja), in collaboration with Playbook Technologies Pte. Ltd., successfully held the Playbook on Campus goes to UNU Yogyakarta program to strengthen students’ readiness for the world of work through skills training, workshops, and career mentoring.
The program consisted of five sessions held on October 14, 15, 16, 20, and 26, 2026, in both offline and online formats. It brought together hundreds of UNU Jogja students from various study programs and academic years, as well as alumni.
Setting Career Goals and Recognizing Personal Potential
The first session opened with a workshop titled Build Your Career Readiness with Personal Goal Setting, led by Yustiniani Mouton, Founder of Playbook Technologies Pte. Ltd. During the session, students learned how to map out their career goals and develop actionable plans through three tools: the Life Design Map, SMART Goals Formula, and Visualization Practice.
“These three tools help participants identify their personal development direction, formulate measurable targets, and recognize the obstacles they may face in achieving their goals,” Yustiniani said on Wednesday, October 14.
Nunuk Melisa, a student in UNU Jogja’s English Education Study Program who also served as the event facilitator, said the workshop provided an enjoyable and valuable learning experience. In addition to helping her explore her potential, the session allowed her to sharpen her skills through practical exercises, or skill drills.
Developing Critical Thinking to Identify Root Causes
The second session continued with a workshop titled Questioning Skills for Problem Solving, led by Yustiniani Mouton. The session explored critical thinking through analytical approaches to identifying the root causes of problems before determining appropriate solutions.
During the discussion, students were introduced to three analytical methods: the 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and Problem Tree Analysis. These methods help break down problems systematically, from identifying their causes to understanding the relationships between issues and their impacts.
Annisa Salsabilla, a student in UNU Jogja’s English Education Study Program who also served as an event facilitator, said the class helped her recognize her abilities and develop herself, particularly in critical thinking. She also viewed the program as an opportunity to strengthen her non-academic skills through the integration of technology and education.
“This program is very helpful for us as students in developing skills beyond the classroom. I hope the collaboration between UNU Jogja and Playbook Technologies can continue so that more students can benefit from similar opportunities,” she said on Thursday, October 15.
Building Negotiation Skills for Professional Environments
The third session featured a workshop titled Negotiate Like a Pro, led by Yustiniani Mouton, Founder of Playbook Technologies Pte. Ltd. Students learned negotiation skills essential to professional environments, including how to understand other parties’ interests and determine appropriate approaches.
Using the Negotiation Compass framework, students explored four stages of negotiation: Assess, Choose, Understand, and Negotiate. They also learned the distinction between a position, or a demand expressed by an individual, and an interest, which refers to the underlying needs or motivations behind that demand.
“Here, we learned negotiation skills. This was a valuable experience that gave us an overview of how international companies operate, how to use professional workplace tools, and how to improve our English proficiency and readiness for entering the workforce in the future,” said Via Auliya Farah ‘Ulwani, a Management Study Program student at UNU Jogja who participated in the session and served as a facilitator on Friday, October 16.
Learning Directly from Experienced Professionals in Singapore
Following the three in-person workshops, the program continued online with a Flash Mentoring Event featuring five professionals with career experience in Singapore.
The mentors were Arif Farhan Bukhori, Data Scientist at Singlife; Rizky Budiyanto, Co-Founder and CEO of Hrtg.me; Upik Dimyati, Senior Manager in Advisory Risk Management and Independence at PwC Singapore; Yosephtri Siahaan, ASEAN Client Portfolio Manager at Broadcom; and Eko Kusuma Suryanzah, Senior Engineer at Deutsche Bank Singapore.
Through the session, students gained first-hand insights into career journeys, professional competencies, and the challenges of working in international environments. The mentors’ diverse professional backgrounds also offered perspectives on career opportunities across various fields.
Dilla Azkiya’us Sa’adah, a Management Study Program student at UNU Jogja, expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to meet and participate in mentoring sessions with talented young professionals from Playbook. She considered the event an opportunity to develop her skills and sharpen her instincts for navigating global job market competition.
“Meeting professional speakers helped sharpen my instincts for pursuing a career on the global stage. The session also strengthened my communication, collaboration, and coordination skills in carrying out the program,” she said on Tuesday, October 20.
Strengthening Student Competencies Through Mentoring
The Playbook on Campus program concluded with Small Group Mentoring Sessions led by Yustiniani Mouton, Founder of Playbook Technologies Pte. Ltd. The session provided follow-up guidance in small groups, allowing students to discuss their personal development needs and develop concrete steps to prepare for their careers.
Salsa Shoibahtul Aslamiah, a Management Study Program student at UNU Jogja, said the mentoring session provided valuable experience for her career development. She added that the sessions had equipped students with useful knowledge and skills to face competition in the global job market.
“Throughout the five sessions I attended, each one provided valuable knowledge, from understanding workflows to learning about the tools used in internationally oriented startups. We feel better prepared to face career competition on the global stage,” she said on Monday, October 26.
Through this series of workshops and mentoring sessions, UNU Jogja and Playbook Technologies Pte. Ltd. provided students with opportunities to recognize their potential, develop professional skills, and understand workplace expectations. These learning experiences with practitioners and international professionals are expected to help students plan their careers and navigate an increasingly competitive job market.
